Who doesn’t like garlic bread-sticks? I remember having them first when I visited Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut is famous for their Garlic bread-sticks. There are a few recipes for the Pizza dough on the net. I have tried few of them and this recipe is a keeper for sure. The bread turned out to be super soft and good and we liked the addition of garlic for flavour to the bread itself. I didn’t find the flavours overpowering the dish but you could add more garlic if you just need it to scream Garlic!!
Mix Garlic Salt with the flour.Keep aside. In a cup/bowl mix the water, sugar and yeast.Keep aside to activate the Yeast

All purpose flour (Maida) : 2 Cups + 2 tbsp divided
Warm water : 1 cup, 45-50 degree warm
Sugar : 1 tbsp
Instant Dried Yeast : 2 tsp
Garlic salt : 1 tsp (refer notes for substitute)
Mozarella / Pizza cheese blend : 1 cup (original recipe calls for 2 cups)
Parsley : 2 tsp finely chopped
Olive oil : 2 tsp
Butter Garlic spread :
Butter : 1 tbsp
Garlic : 2 fat cloves, grated or heavily crushed
Italian Seasoning /Oregano : 3/4 tsp
Red chilli flakes : 1/2 tsp (optional)
Mix Sugar and yeast to the warm water and keep aside. Pls refer notes on activating yeast
In a large bowl, or the bowl of the stand mixer, add the garlic salt and flour. Mix well
Now add the frothy yeast mixture to the flour and start kneading using hands. Use the method as for garlic bread rolls. If using a stand mixer or a hand mixer knead for about 7-8 minutes on medium speed using the kneading blade.Towards the end of the kneading process add about 1-2 tsp olive oil.
Once done the dough will be very sticky. Rub little oil so as to form a ball. Cover with cling wrap and set aside to double in size for about an hour.
Punch the dough and grease a 32 x 22 cm pan with oil and spread the dough into a rectangle the size of the baking sheet.
Spread butter, oregano and garlic mixture.
Sprinkle the cheese. Top it with finely chopped parsley
Now, preheat your oven to about 220 C and above and bake the bread for 15-18 minutes
Remove. Slice as required and serve with any tomato dip/sauce.
If you dont have garlic salt. Mix 3/4 tsp salt with 1 tsp garlic powder.
